Society for Technical Communication Competition
The 2013-2014 Puget Sound Competition is open for entries starting September 1, 2013. The deadline this year for submitting entries is Friday, October 11, 2013 at 5 PM.
Consider entering this year’s competition if you would like to:
- Get valuable, objective feedback on your work.
- Gain formal recognition through awards for outstanding technical communication products that you or your company produced.
The STC Puget Sound chapter invites you to participate in the Society for Technical Communication’s competition for 2013-2014. The competition is open to all technical communication professionals. You do not have to be a member of STC to participate.
Note: For a list of all of the award-winning entries from the 2012-2013 competition, see 2012 Award Winners.
Valuable and Affordable and for all
The Puget Sound Technical Communication Competition is an excellent way to receive feedback for online help, tutorials, Web sites, reference books, brochures, posters, phone apps, and other media. Each entry will be evaluated by at least two judges who will give feedback and based on the Society for Technical Communication’s international standards.
The competition entry fee is $70 for members (both chapter and at large members). Non-members pay $90. New for this year is the option that up to 5 contributors can be listed for each entry.
Entries must contain sufficient technical, scientific, medical, or similar content to qualify as technical communication.
Entries must also have been created or substantially revised within 24 months preceding the competition. This year, the competition has four categories:
- Informational Materials
- Instructional Materials
- Promotional Materials
- User Support Materials.
For more information about entry requirements, see the Competition Rules. The rules from 2012-2013 still apply for this year’s competition.
For more information on how to submit an entry for the competition, see How to Enter.
Level of Awards
There are three levels of recognition for each competition:
An awards banquet will be hosted on January 21 to celebrate award recipients. Contributors who receive Excellence or Distinguished awards in a local competition may also submit their entries in the 2013-2014 International STC competitions.
