Implementing an Editorial Quality Assurance review and publishing process, including coordination with and support of all process stakeholders.

  • EQA project management (Offering IP review coordination, collation and provision of editorial forecast information for resource assessments, risk and mitigation assessment and input, initial and ongoing editor training, stakeholder support, etc.)
  • Attendance at key meetings, especially in support of stakeholder relationships
  • Acceptance review activities (conducted at the start of each release to confirm Offering IP meets Release and EQA program requirements, such as the core BOM)
  • Editorial review and version control of all Offering IP, including the contract work stream, per EQA Program standards (which include Microsoft editorial standards [e.g., Brand Tools, MSTP, globalization and geopolitical requirements, etc.], The Chicago Manual of Style, use of U.S. English, etc.)
  • Comment resolution with Service Line Offering team SMEs and Advisor Program members, who act as facilitators to enable Service Lines to expedite their Offerings through the development, review, and publishing framework
  • Scrubbing of Offering IP in preparation for publishing per EQA Program standards
  • Coordination and review of Offering landing page text (landing pages are the information hubs and download locations for Offering IP on the internal portal)
  • On-time releases involving:
    • Application of taxonomy tags to Offering IP
    • Publishing of Offering IP
    • Portal and file validation activities (after publishing)
    • General maintenance and version control of published Offering IP files (their location, file names, archiving, etc.)
    • Stakeholder coordination, especially with SBD, the Localization Program, and the Partner
    • Program, regarding file locations, handoffs, deadlines, etc.
    • Data collection to support release notifications after publishing
  • Out-of-cycle review and publishing of Offering IP (when business critical)
  • Formal lessons learned data collection and presentations to Offering teams following each release
  • Compliance with defined business metrics that ensure the release of quality Offerings.
  • Compliance will be assessed at regular intervals.

Job Requirements

  • Have a minimum of three years of experience editing technical documentation in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Five to seven years of experience is preferred, especially for the PM.
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience managing editorial teams (PM only)
  • Have Microsoft editorial experience and meticulous attention to detail
  • Have experience using the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications and The Chicago Manual of Style

The role entails editing English academic research papers on various subjects in physical sciences written by non-native speakers of English.

The editor would need to have impeccable spelling and grammar and the ability to write clear, concise, and extremely polite notes to the author for the clarification of any ambiguities in the text. Experience in editing/writing is a plus.

If you have access to the Chicago Manual of Style and/or other academic style manuals or are aware of the differences between British and American English (in terms of spelling and punctuation), please be sure to mention it in your application.

Preference is given to native speakers of English. An editing test will be administered to determine your quality and to negotiate a rate. The same test is given to all candidates; it is not part of a live document. All who qualify will be selected.

Salary

We currently have two levels of service: standard copyediting and a premium service (different from substantive editing).
