Lone Writer Lunches are an opportunity to talk with other technical communicators on topics dear to you. So far, we are going to continue holding these virtual events through May, although the last one was rather sparsely attended.
April Topic: Creating Support and Community Around Job Loss
Let’s come together as a community and strategize ways to survive job loss, ways to find income by thinking outside the box, sharing resources, and more.
Whether you work alone with bunny slippers, or commute each day to an office as the token technical communicator, or you are one of many in a large company with a team of writers, now’s your chance to close the door, grab a bag lunch, and talk to others who like yourself, occasionally like to talk to others who care about documentation.
You will need to register for each session to attend. Any one is welcome and the initial cost is free. I, (Lin Laurie, current STC President) will moderate/facilitate the meetings and will also run the meeting tool (Zoom). The first one will be an open topic meeting and we’ll start out discussing the state of STC and it member benefits before making it wide open. At the end of the first meeting we can all suggest topics for the next meeting and attendees can vote on the topic. If you feel you want to do a talk, then we attendees just need to approve it.
I used to do these monthly when I worked at Intuit and they were great for bringing people together, getting questions answered, and supporting people who felt alone. By offering this to any STC member or any subscriber to our newsletter, we have the opportunity to offer this to many more people and possible bring in new members.
I look forward to seeing and hearing you during the upcoming webinars.
Tuesday, April 10th, from 12-1 pm PST (Other time zones are welcome to join.)
There will not be a recording of these sessions.
